Plan Ahead: Make Reservations

Your hosts recommendation: include some excursions during your trip to Gay Bowl XXII.

First-time and return visitors might be surprised that visits to local attractions now require advance reservations. Planning ahead may save you some disappointment.

Planning on hiking up Diamond Head?
As of early 2022, visitors must make a reservation to hike up to the summit. It’s about a 60-90 minute adventure and the last 10 minutes are all stairs….lots and lots of stairs…be prepared! (take a look at our June 5th post about Hiking Diamond Head)

Note: reservations are only open 30 days in advance and the spots fill up fast.

Planning on a Hanauma Bay Snorkel?
Starting in April 2021 tickets must be Reserved & Paid in advance for the mandatory 9-minute orientation video. Reservations can be made for up to 10 people – 5 Adults and/or 5 kids. Snorkel gear can be rented on site.

The park opens at 6:45 a.m. and last entry is at 1:00 p.m. Early morning snorkels are recommended - you’ll see the most fish.
Note: reservations open 2 days in advance and the spots fill up fast.

Planning a visit to Pearl Harbor?
For many visitors a trip to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial means visiting the USS Arizona Memorial. Whereas the visitor center is open and free, a visit to the Memorial mandates a reservation. The reservation includes short shuttle boat trip across the bay to the floating structure. The shuttle transports 145 passengers every 30 minutes starting at 8:30 a.m.

Note: While the booking site (below) may indicates that USS Arizona Memorial Program (also known as shuttle tickets) are all sold for Gay Bowl XXII dates, a handful of reservations are open 1 day prior. (Some hotel concierges snatch up the spots and release them if they don’t fill their quotas).
